An Outline of Jessica Alba’s Workout Routine

Jessica Alba undoubtedly has one of the best female bodies in Hollywood. Just watch any of her movies and you will see that she is in absolutely amazing shape. She is a great role model for women who are looking to get the lean “Hollywood” body.

So here is a summary of Jessica Alba’s Workout Routine


1.) Jessica likes to start off her workout with 10 minutes of interval cardio. She jogs the first 2 minutes, picks up the pace for the next 6, and finishes it off with 2 minutes of slow jogging.

2.) Alba then completes a weight training circuit consisting of: lateral shoulder raises, reverse flies, alternating forward lunges with bicep curls. She does 3 sets of 20 repetitions using 3 pound dumbbells for each exercise.

3.) After this, she hits the treadmill again for some interval training. This time around she completes a 5 minute session which consists of jogging for 30 seconds then sprinting for 30 seconds. She does that 5 times which adds up to 5 minutes.


4.) She then performs more weight training. Again 3 sets of 20 repetitions, using 3 pound dumbbells for the following exercises: chest press, squats with shoulder presses, and triceps dips.

5.) Jessica Alba then makes her way back to the treadmill for the same 5 minute interval cardio training she does earlier in the workout.

6.) Jessica then works on her core strength. She completes 1 set of 20 repetitions for these exercises: bicycle crunches, reverse crunches, and plank hold for 30 seconds.

My comments on Jessica Alba’s Workout Routine

This workout that Jessica performs is actually pretty great. One of the great things in this workout is interval cardio work, instead of jogging at the same pace. If you perform interval cardio training you will naturally release more fat burning hormones, which means you will burn fat at a much quicker pace. The exercises she performs for her core are perfect for developing that flat bikini body stomach that she has. Although if I had designed her core workout, I would have her do a plank hold for 30 seconds at a couple different times throughout the day. I am strong believer that the plank hold exercise, if done properly, is the best exercise for your core.

There is however, one thing in Jessica’s workout that I believe should be changed. She performs her weight training exercises using 3 pound dumbbells and quite frankly, that won’t cut it. In order to burn more fat, you need to add a little bit of muscle and 3 pounds will not do that. The common belief that women need to perform high reps with light dumbbells is false. All in all this is a fantastic workout and with a couple of changes this will be a great way to get in shape for bikini season.
